CPA typing practice, explained.
How does the CPA typing test work?
Start immediately with an original accounting example. Choose Accuracy Mode to reproduce the text exactly and measure words per minute (WPM) and accuracy. Choose Exam Mode for a free editor beside the reference, where shorthand, spelling differences, and punctuation are not scored. Set a timer or practise without a time limit. No upload or account is required.
What happens if I use my own document?
Your browser reads a PDF, Word document (.docx), or text file locally. You can also paste notes. Review the cleaned written response, then practise typing it. We never receive your document or typed response, and neither is sent to an AI service or used for AI training. They stay in this tab’s session, including across refreshes. Only use material you have permission to use.
How can I practise writing faster for the CFE?
Practise accounting terms, amounts, and written analysis with our original examples. Try a five-minute Accuracy Mode session to spot recurring typing mistakes, then use Exam Mode to practise with your own shorthand. Compare your WPM across sessions in this tab’s History. Unlike random-word typing tests, these examples give you connected accounting prose. Typing practice supports the mechanics of case writing; analysis and time management still matter.
Is CPA Type free?
Yes. CPA Type is free, with no account required. It is built for Canadian CPA PEP and Common Final Examination (CFE) candidates. All included samples are original fictional examples created for this tool. We do not provide CPA Canada cases or official exam solutions.
